Bhramari Pranayama or Humming Bee Breath

Bhramari = Black Indian Bee

Pranayama = Breath Technique

How to practice Bhramari Pranynama:

  1. Choose a comfortable sitting position

  2. Close your eyes and breathe deeply 2-3 times

  3. Block your ears with thumbs

  4. Place index fingers just above your eyebrows (or on eyelids)

  5. Place middle fingers to left and right of nose or on cheek bones

  6. Place ring fingers between nose and upper lip

  7. Place pinky fingers between lower lip and chin

  8. Relax your face

  9. Breath in and out through your nose

  10. On exhale make humming / buzzing sound

  11. Continue for at least 6 cycles or as long as you’d like

  12. Try adjusting the pitch of your humming up and down to feel different results, find what feels comfortable for you at the moment.

  13. When completed sit calmly for a few moments before continuing to your next task.
